Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko provided more details on the tragic incident.
In a statement, Sonko revealed that Fred Omondi was struck by a Forward Travellers Sacco matatu while riding on a boda boda along Kangundo Road.
“I’ve learned with sadness of the sudden passing of Fred Omondi, brother to comedian Eric Omondi, following a road accident along Kangundo Road.
“Fred was reportedly hit by a Forward Travellers matatu early this morning while on a boda boda and was pronounced dead on arrival at Mama Lucy Hospital,” Sonko wrote.
Sonko also reflected on Fred Omondi’s work and character, sharing personal memories of his involvement in organizing events.
“The late Fred Omondi was an MC and event organizer during my daughter’s graduation party. He did a tremendous job by bringing on board top artistes, dancers, and gospel singers to entertain our guests. On behalf of my family, I pray God comforts and gives the Omondi family enough strength to sail through this storm. Receive my sincere condolences,” he added.
