Veteran Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi marks his 37th birth anniversary today, and has been celebrated by the club.
Obi who had an illustrious 11-year career at Stamford Bridge has be described by the West Londoners as “a true Chelsea legend.”
In a post on X, Chelsea wished Obi well, having spent over a decade with the side, from 2006-2017.
“Happy birthday, John Obi Mikel!
“A true Chelsea legend, who graced our midfield for 11 years,” the post added.
Although he didn’t score as many goals throughout his career, the Nigerian defensive midfielder boasts several titles.
He won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two Football League Cups and one Community Shield.

Obi was also among the legendary Chelsea squad that won the famous 2012 UEFA Champions League title, the first ever for the club.
Going to the Europa League the next season, he also won the title, capping off one of the best careers by any Nigerian footballer.
