I’m classy – Asake responds critics

Ahmed Ololade, also known as Asake, a rising Nigerian Afrobeats artist, has lauded his style, singing, and fashion sense.

The ‘Peace Be Unto You‘ singer took to Twitter on Monday to assert that he is a classy man, despite what people may believe or say about him.

Asake issued the statement after trolls criticised him over a number of events, including his Grammy defeat. Another reason he was mocked was that a fan posted a stunning photo of him wearing a white long sleeve shirt tucked into black trousers.

Tyla’s ‘Water’ topped out Davido’s ‘Unavailable,’ Asake’s ‘Amapiano,’ Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ and Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’ to win the Grammy for Best African Music Performance.

Some referred to Asake as ‘razz’ and said that his failure to win a Grammy was due to the fact that he primarily sings in Yoruba.

However, in a distinct post that appears to be in response to the criticisms, the YBNL musician shared a photograph of himself on the red carpet of the 66th Grammy Awards and declared that he is classy.

“I’m classy joor”, he wrote.

Reacting, the artiste’s fans shared some words of encouragement with him after the Grammy loss and others agreed that he is indeed a classy man.
