Atletico Madrid picked a hard-fought win away from home against Granada at Nuevo Los Carmenes, ending their away winless streak.
Despite the win, the match was not without its share of controversy, as VAR played a major role in the outcome.
The first half of the game was relatively uneventful, with both teams unable to create clear scoring chances.
Granada appeared to be the more content side going into halftime. However, Atletico raised their game in the second half and eventually broke the deadlock.
Antoine Griezmann provided the crucial assist, delivering a cross from the right to Alvaro Morata, who headed home into the corner of the net.
The goal was initially subject to a VAR review to determine the offside position, but after a lengthy deliberation, it was awarded in Atletico’s favour.
With the goal, Griezmann and Morata have now contributed to 60% of Atletico’s La Liga goals this season.
