Alhassan Yusuf to return for Ivory Coast test

Alhassan Yusuf has assured that he will be fit to play for the Super Eagles in their upcoming match against the Ivory Coast on Thursday.

The Royal Antwerp player allayed fears of a long spell on the sideline, after playing a vital role in the Super Eagles defense against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.

Recall that the 23-year-old was substituted in the 68th minute of the encounter that ended 1-1 draw due to injury.

However, Yusuf has since trained separately from his teammates for full recovery, and promised it was only a cramp.

“I’m not going to train fully today, but I should be back in full training tomorrow,” Yusuf told Completesports at the team’s base in Abidjan.

“I’m getting better and should be available for the game against Cote d’Ivoire,” he added.

He is said to have undergone scan to assess the extent of his injury, and he is optimistic about returning to the pitch to help his team in the crucial match against the host nation.

The Super Eagles will face the Elephants at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Thursday.
