The Super Eagles camp has named Terem Moffi as the replacement for injured Victor Boniface, ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Boniface sustained a groin injury that will see him sidelined for six weeks during training with the Nigerian national team in Abu Dahbi, and subsequently missed the friendly against Guinea on Monday.
However, in a statement released on the official X account of the Super Eagles, OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi, will now replace the 23-year-old, pending the approval of his club and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
“Victor Boniface is out of the AFCON 2023 squad due to injury, and Terem Moffi replaces him, pending approval of CAF and concurrence of his club.”
Recall that Moffi made the 41-man provisional list sent to CAF last December, but was dropped due to competition in the team’s attacking front.
The three-time African Champions will kickoff their first match of the tournament on Sunday 14 January, against Equitorial Guinea.
