A heated family dispute has emerged on social media after an oyinbo couple, Patricia and her husband, expressed their intention to sue their 18-year-old son over his refusal to continue paying a daily ‘parenting fee.’
The couple alleges that the teenager abruptly stopped making payments after moving out of their home and renting his own apartment without their consent.
In a now-viral Facebook post, Patricia narrated the events leading up to the dispute, stating that their son had been making regular ‘parenting fee’ payments since he was 13 years old.
However, things took a turn when he decided to leave the family home with their authorization to seek independence.
Patricia wrote;
“My 18-year-old son left home with our authorization to get an apartment, and now refuses to pay his daily parenting fees that he has been paying since he was 13 years old. How would I go about suing him?”
MiKarma4u said; Parenting fees are set up by selfish parents who are overly dependent upon their children and find the children as a source of income.. Making the children an indentured servant or basically the family prostitute..
@deltaplan said; “I understand the concept that when children who still live with their parents start earning money, the parents ask them to contribute to the family expenses. The parents will even pay income tax on their children income if they are still part of the household, so it’s totally…”
@SkyeKahoalii said; “What are “parenting fees?” Although just the term and the information that these fees were extracted from a minor seems sketchy as hell.”
