“Most Igbos do not believe in Biafra” — Ojukwu’s brother speaks on unity

Lotanna Ojukwu, the younger brother of the late warlord Odumegu Ojukwu, discloses that the majority of Igbos do not subscribe to the idea of Biafra.

This comes following his plea to President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stating that his release would be a solution to the heightened violence caused by the sit-at-home protests in the Southeast region.

In his appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Lotanna highlighted that many Igbos engage in business activities throughout Nigeria due to their belief in the unity of the nation.

His statement emphasizes that Igbos primarily seek fairness and recognition within Nigeria, rather than advocating for the establishment of Biafra as widely believed.

In his words, “Most Igbos do not believe in ‘Biafra.’ What they want is an equal share and acceptance in Nigeria. If we love being by ourselves so much, why should so many Igbos live and do business all over Nigeria and Africa?”
