University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Friday, October 7 has announced the appointment of Folasade Ogunsola, a professor of clinical microbiology, as its new vice-chancellor.
Professor Folasade is the 13th vice-chancellor of the school and the first female vice-chancellor of the school since its 60 years of existence.

Professor Folasade is the daughter of the late eminent geographer, Prof. Akin Mabogunje.
She was at a time the Provost of the College of Medicine in Idi Araba, Lagos and also served as a deputy vice-chancellor to Ogundipe.
She is expected to take over from the outgoing VC, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, whose tenure ends on November 11, 2022.
