Football Manager 2023 will include UEFA’s prestigious club competitions for the first time in the franchise’s history.
The Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League and Super Cup will all be fully licensed, playable competitions in Football Manager 2023.
Miles Jacobson, Sports Interactive’s studio director, said: “Football Manager 2023 marks another significant step forward for the Football Manager series as we introduce the UEFA Club Competitions and bring the game to PlayStation 5.
“Adding these historic competitions is an ideal fit for all parties involved and will add another dynamic and challenging element for fans that makes this year’s edition the most realistic football management simulation available.”
The licensing agreement also includes the rights to the Women’s Champions League, which will be included in a future version of the game once women’s football makes its long-awaited arrival to the franchise.
New game features will be unveiled in the coming weeks, but one of the biggest changes for FM23 comes with the decision to do away with disc versions of the game.
Fans may still buy physical copies of FM23 but packs will simply contain a unique code which can be redeemed on various digital platforms, with the removal of the disc and manual adding to Sports Interactive’s push to lower the game’s carbon footprint.
