Queen Elizabeth II died at her home in Balmoral on Sept. 8, 2022, at the age of 96, following an over-70-year reign — the longest in British history.
Over the course of Her Majesty’s historic time on the throne, we saw the monarch’s style shift over and over again.

From ’50s frocks to frilly ’80s ensembles and colorful wool coats, the Queen never failed to make a fashion statement. She once said she “had to be seen to be believed,” hence her penchant for bright colors that stood out in a crowd.
