Jennette McCurdy claimed her abusive mom would force her to shower with one of her older brothers when she was just 11 years old.
During her “Red Table Talk” debut on Wednesday, the retired actress opened up to Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris about the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of her late mom, Debra McCurdy.
She specifically talked about the times her mom would allegedly ask her and her brother Scott to shower together.
“Mom showers me with Scotty sometimes,” she read from her book, “I’m Glad My Mom Died.”
“He’s almost 16 at this point. I get really embarrassed when she showers us together. I can tell he does too.”
The former “iCarly” star, 30, explained they would both “look away from each other” and find ways to distract themselves.
“When she showers us together, mom says it’s because she’s got too much to do,” Jennette — who also has brothers Dustin and Marcus — continued reading.
“Scotty asked if he could shower himself own once. Mom sobbed and said she didn’t want him to grow up so he never asked again after that.”
The child star added that, even when her mom would shower her alone, she would allegedly still give a “breast” and “front butt exam” to check for cancerous lumps.
“I say OK, because I definitely don’t want cancer, and since mom’s had it and all, she would know if I do.”
When Pinkett Smith asked about how that experience affected her “dynamic” with Scott, now 35, McCurdy assured her she still has a “beautiful bond” with her brothers.
“I’m so close with all three of my brothers, and they have been a source of love and consistency in my life when there really wasn’t much anywhere else,” Jenette told the group of women.
“Isn’t it amazing? We have such a beautiful bond, and there’s such an understanding there I think because of the things we went through together and the things we saw together.”
The Nickelodeon alum has defended the title of her memoir by going into detail about the abuse she suffered prior to and during her rise to fame.
Among other chilling stories, Jennette wrote about her mom allegedly putting her on a strict diet that eventually led to her needing a booster seat in the car at 14, calling her a “slut” when she began dating and lying about who her biological father was.
Jennette was estranged from Debra when the latter died from cancer in 2013.
