The 2022 NFL season is within reach as teams have started to participate in their preseason games.
In line with these tune-up games, the league has started to release its Top 100 Players list for 2022.
Those who had a great 2021 season may find themselves on the list again unless they have retired.
Likewise, fantasy football enthusiasts could use the list as a guide to building their winning rosters.
But the criteria for selection leaves the list open for criticism.
While statistics from the previous season may matter, it is not the driving force for selection.
After all, it’s the players themselves who select, as pointed out by NFL analyst Geoff Schwartz.

As a former NFL offensive lineman, he has participated in a number of selections for this list.
The seventh-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft played for four teams in eight seasons before retiring in 2017.
Therefore, even Schwartz can testify that choosing for the list isn’t necessarily fool-proof.
There could be a big-name player who experienced a slump that is still on the list.
The Debate Makes The List Beautiful
But as he said, football fans can generate their own ranking and defend it.
They can share their classification with friends and get either support or criticism.
In short, the NFL Top 100 can further fill the gap for football until the games that matter start.
Interest in the list will elevate as the league releases the Top 50 list days from now.
Once the full list comes out, the online chatter and banter will never cease.
