Kenny Pickett had initial success with the Pittsburgh Steelers during his first-ever NFL preseason game.

The former Pitt Panther finished the game with 13 completions for 95 yards and two touchdowns against the Seattle Seahawks.

One of his scoring throws was a 24-yard strike to Tyler Vaughns that won the game for Pittsburgh, 32-25.

That performance should turn a lot of heads for Pickett who was widely discussed earlier in the offseason due to his hand size.

But while he will now play for the team that shared the same home field with his collegiate squad, he made a surprising revelation, as shared by Steelers Radio Network host Gerry Dulac.

Dulac tweeted, ‘Kenny Pickett said he never got to see the Steelers play when he was at Pitt. ‘I’ve been here so long and I’ve never been able to go to a Steelers game. The first one I have as an NFL player, to finish that way in that stadium with a lot of family and friends was awesome.’”

Pickett just didn’t have time to watch the Steelers compete during home games as a college athlete.

Aside from his responsibilities as a student, he had to participate in practices and devote hours in the weight room.

Main Attraction For The Steelers?

The team hopes that Pickett will be the worthy successor of longtime quarterback champion Ben Roethlisberger.

“Big Ben” retired after 18 NFL seasons, but not before bringing two Super Bowls to the proud franchise.

He is also a six-time Pro Bowler and led the league in passing yards twice.

For Pickett, following Roethlisberger’s footsteps might be a tall order.

But he is off to a good start and Steelers fans hope that he can keep the momentum.
