The Detroit Tigers are in a bit of an organizational crisis.
They just fired their general manager, Al Avila, and they are currently last in the AL Central division.
They haven’t had a winning season since 2016.
Expectations were high after they spent in the offseason, but so far, everything that could have gone wrong, has gone wrong.
The Tigers will now have to find a new general manager, and according to chairman and CEO Chris Ilitch, they will examine people from inside and outside of the organization.

Is Hinch Interested In An Executive Role?
It raises the question: is Hinch a good candidate to be the general manager of the Tigers?
It’s unclear if the organization has offered the position or not, or if he would be interested, but he is one of the MLB skippers with the most acceptance for advanced metrics and analytics.
He has shown it since his days as a manager with the Astros, a forward-thinking, sustainable franchise that relies heavily on analytics.
He could make for a good candidate for an executive role, but he seems focused on being a manager for the time being.
No one knows what the future may hold, but Hinch has a contract to be the Tigers’ manager and apparently will respect it.
For now, at least, his decisions will be limited to what happens on the field and in the dugout.
