“Build it, and they will come.”
It’s a reference from the movie “Field of Dreams”, a film that captivated an entire generation of young baseball fans in the late 80s and early 90s.
It was so successful, and it’s so deep into baseball idiosyncrasy, that the league hosted a “Field of Dreams” Game last year in Dyersville, Iowa, near the fields in which the movie was shot.
The game was a success, and it was a thrilling affair between two postseason contenders: the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox.
This time, the league will have the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds play the Field of Dreams Game.
They are two of the most traditional franchises in MLB, and they have both been around for a long, long time.
They will use vintage uniforms, and players will emerge from the cornfields like in the movie.
