Monza have confirmed the signing of Arsenal centre-back Pablo Mari on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy.
The Spaniard, who moved to Arsenal in 2020, made 22 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions before heading to Serie A on loan with Udinese in January 2022.
He returned to Arsenal this summer but is now back in Italy, having joined Monza on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
As part of the agreement, Mari will join Monza permanently if the Serie A newcomers avoid relegation from Italy’s top flight.
Mari quickly tumbled down the pecking order at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, making just three appearances in all competitions in the first half of the 2021/22 campaign and being left out of all but one of the last 15 Premier League squads during his time at the club.
Now, with William Saliba shining at Arsenal, Mari’s chances of minutes grew even slimmer and, should Monza survive this season, his time at the Emirates will be over for good.
