Nigerian singer, Tems has appreciated her industry big sisters; Tiwa, Yemi Alade, Omawumi, Asa, Simi and others for paving the way for her.
On the 27th of June, Tems made history by becoming the first Afrobeats female artist to win a BET award. She won two BET Awards; Best Collaboration and Best International Act.
As expected, Nigerians wasted no time in dragging her older colleagues for letting Tems beat them. They crowned her “The New Queen of Afrobeats” a title meant for Tiwa Savage.
Reacting to the bashing and insults being given to Tiwa and others, Tems hopped on Twitter to thank all the female artists for Paving the way. She admitted that they inspired her with their music and she won’t be here if they didn’t decide to get up and do something.
Tems also thanked the younger generation; Ayra Starr, Gyakie, Fave, Teni. Tems stated that she is proud to be a Nigerian when she sees the former on gracing the stage. She concluded by telling her fans to stop with the drama, “So before it starts, know that Love lives on this side”
