The kidnappers came in large numbers, wielding sophisticated weapons and subsequently invading the provisions store and whisking away the victim while shooting sporadically.
A 48-year-old trader, Chinedu Arinze has been abducted by kidnappers who also took away foodstuffs and drinks from his shop in Adagba community in Yaba ward of Abaji area council of Abuja.
Daily Trust reported that a resident of the community, James Gwatana, said the incident happened on Monday April 18, around 8:11 pm when Muslims were observing prayers.
Gwatana said the kidnappers came in large numbers, wielding sophisticated weapons and subsequently invading the provisions store and whisking away the victim while shooting sporadically.
He said;
“The kidnappers targeted when Muslims were observing prayers before they invaded the provision shop while some other gangs stood outside shooting into the air before they whisked away the victim.”
He said the kidnappers also went away with over 100 phones that were brought to the victim’s shop for charging by some villagers. According to him, some villagers who were going to the shop to purchase items were forced to turn back due to the sporadic shooting by the kidnappers.
The incident was also confirmed by Vice-Chairman of the council, Abubakar Abdullahi.
He said;
“In fact, I was at the village when the incident happened around 8:00 pm when I started hearing gunshots. Until after some time I enquired and I was told that one Arinze Chinedu who sells provision has been kidnapped”
