A 49-year-old man named Anthony Owusi has been taken to court in Lagos on allegations of stealing 245 car tyres worth millions of naira.
The accused appeared before the Ojo Magistrate’s Court and pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft.
The prosecution claimed that on September 5, 2022, Owusi and accomplices conspired to steal the car tyres belonging to Chukwudi Emele, which were valued at N4.2 million.
The case contravenes sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, according to the prosecution. The magistrate, L.J.K Layeni, granted the defendant bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until May 17 for trial.
