Nigerian student, Sunkanmi Balogun studying in the United Kingdom, UK opens up about her anxieties regarding her decision to relocate as she approaches 31.
In a candid TikTok post, Sunkanmi with username @lifeofsusubalogun admitted uncertain feelings and fearful thoughts about starting her life over in a new country.
Before moving to the UK, Sunkanmi held a successful job in Nigeria and had spent years saving up for her move abroad. Despite her determination and careful planning, she now finds herself grappling with concerns about the future.
“I had a great job in Nigeria,” she shared, adding that leaving behind her established career to pursue further studies abroad has left her questioning if she made the right decision.
“I’m not getting any younger,” she admitted, hinting at the pressure she feels as she navigates a new chapter in a foreign land.
“I’d say I am scared. I’ll be 31 next month, and while I had a great job back home, it took years of saving and planning to even be here. “I’m afraid to start from the beginning, sometimes I feel there’s no time and I’m not getting younger. I feel I started late but I have dreams and so much more I want to achieve. I’m scared of the future and praying I made the right decision,” she wrote.
Her honest reflections have resonated with many on social media, with other Nigerians in the diaspora and those considering relocation sharing their experiences and offering words of encouragement.
