Norwegian football is in mourning following the tragic death of Archange Defrignan Mondou, a 19-year-old midfielder from Ivory Coast.
Mondou who played for Eliteserien club HamKam and widely known as Achilles, was found unresponsive at his home in Hamar, Norway.
His club HamKam announced the devastating news, expressing their deep sadness and offering condolences to Mondou’s family and loved ones.
The club are yet to disclose the cause of death, stating that it is currently unknown.
HamKam’s general manager, Bent Svele, described it as a “very difficult day for everyone affected.”
Meanwhile, preliminary repot by the Police confirmed that there was nothing suspicious about the death, although an autopsy has been requested.
Last September, Mondou had to take a break from football after an incident during training that led to him being hospitalized for a medical assessment, UK Sun Sport revealed.
