Xander Bogaerts has joined some elite company for shortstops.
Yesterday, Bogaerts made a little history in the first inning of the Boston Red Sox series opener against the Baltimore Orioles.
On a 1-1 pitch from Orioles starter Dean Kremer, Bogaerts sent one off of the Green Monster out in left field and cruised into second base with his 300th career double.
With that double, Bogaerts became the fourth shortstop with a minimum of 90% of games played at the position with 300 doubles and 150 home runs in his first 10 seasons, joining former Red Sox stars Nomar Garciaparra and Hanley Ramirez, as well as Miguel Tejada.

Bogaerts Makes Shortstop History
This is some great company to be in.
When you can join Tejada, Ramirez, and Garciaparra on a list of shortstops with 300 doubles and 150 homers in 10 seasons, that means you’re locked in at the plate.
Bogaerts burst onto the scene in 2013 and was a part of the Red Sox World Series championship team that year, and in 2018.
He’s a four-time All-Star and a four-time Silver Slugger Award Winner in addition to being a part of two World Series teams.
He’s accomplished so much in such a short amount of time.
Bogaerts is likely to opt out of the remaining few years of his contract this offseason and become a free agent.
One can expect with the stats he’s put up over the past 10 seasons with the Red Sox, he’ll be highly coveted by several teams.
He’s been a major key to the success of the Red Sox ever since he was called up to the big leagues.
Now, he’s a part of some unique history for shortstops, joining three legends, two of which were Red Sox stars.
