Nigeria’s iconic Afrobeats superstar, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has won the award for “Best African Act” at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards.

The ‘Essence’ star won the “Best African Act” at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA). He successfully knocked off his colleague, Tems, Ghanaian artist- Amaarae, Tanzanian artist- Diamond Platnumz, and South African hitmaker, Focalistic who were nominated in the same category.

Wizkid has now become the most decorated African act at the MTV EMAs with another win at the Best African Act category. The show was held on Sunday, the 14th of November 2021.

This comes as another major recognition for the multiple award-winning Nigerian who is putting Afrobeats at the global trend.
