Why Referee Michael Oliver Gave Martinelli Two Yellow Cards – Rio Ferdinand Reveals

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has criticized referee Michael Oliver for brandishing two quick yellow cards to Arsenal forward, Gabriel Martinelli.
Martinelli was sent off in the 70th minute of the Gunners’ 1-0 win at Wolves on Thursday.

The Brazil forward got his marching orders after committing two successive fouls.

Martinelli tried to stop Wolves from taking a quick throw in and then pushed Chiquinho over.

However, Ferdinand has claimed Oliver “wants to be in the news” and described his decision as “harsh”.

He said:

“He wants to be in the news the ref, doesn’t he? So harsh. The first, you can say it’s a yellow.

“But the second one, especially in the same phase or sequence, I just don’t feel it warrants another yellow card. No chance”
