Why Is Nobody Talking About Rema’s Album Anymore?

Rema’s debut album is one of the most anticipated projects this year.
Now we’ve got it and the conversation about Rema and the album has just faded. Why?

First things first. I thought the album was okay. For what it’s worth, it’s got Rema doing some impressive stuff and everyone seemed to think so when the album dropped. So what has happened now?

The simple explanation is that the album is not good enough. At least, not on the level of Fireboy’s “Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps” or Joeboy’s “Somewhere Between Beauty and Magic.”

Maybe two years ago, “Rave & Roses” would have gotten the parade and would have been named one of the best albums of the year or something. But now, that grace time is over. For Rema, anyway.

Of course, there’s also the explanation that the people that matter are still talking about it and that maybe it’s charting in some foreign countries blah blah blah.

That’s a good argument, but the flaw in that argument would be that Rema hasn’t exactly had so much success internationally too. It’s not like he’s on the Billboard or he’s on the Apple Music US chart or his song is trending on TikTok or anything. So what is going on? Why is the Don Jazzy magic not working?

Another explanation would be that Rema is one of those artists who are not album artists. Someone like Tekno. They can make hundreds of hits but their albums are just gonna be sleepers at best. That is, people would feel them and continue to feel them in the future but the buzz won’t be game-changing.

Oh, another theory. Maybe Don Jazzy has not started churning out the cash for promotion. That is also a possibility, and maybe he will soon? Who knows.

Anyway, what do you think? Why do you think Rema’s album is not getting any buzz anymore?
