The issue of Muslim men being entitled to marry more than one wife has always been a topic of controversy.
The internet went wild after popular actress, Mercy Aigbe married her alleged former friend’s husband. Her excuse was that, “He is Muslim and entitled to multiple wives.”
Yes, Prophet Mohammed (SAW) did permit his followers to take more than one wife, however, there are conditions attached to it.
These conditions in fact makes it almost impossible for men to do it.
In the holy Quran, when Allah said men can marry more than one wife, he commanded that they be loved EQUALLY and should be made equally happy which is impossible.
Another thing is that, one’s first wife must be in support of him having a new wife.
After the marriage, both must be equally happy and catered for.
You must buy same thing for both wives one mustn’t be better than the other. The duration you last in bed with one, should be same with the other. How you look at one should be the same with the other!
It’s impossible to please and love different women equally the same time. So taking multiple wives is almost impossible, even in Islam.
