Thomas Tuchel Receives Sack Warning, Werner, Pulisic May Leave Stamford Bridge

Glen Johnson has sent a sack warning to Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, saying the German may not remain at Stamford Bridge until next season.
The former Chelsea star also said the club could consider selling striker, Timo Werner and winger, Christian Pulisic this summer and replace them with Barcelona forward, Ousmane Dembele.

Tuchel, who left Paris Saint-Germain for England in 2021, enjoyed a superb first season with the Blues, helping them win Champions League glory, the FA Cup final and a top-four finish in the Premier League.

This season, the Blues started as Premier League title favourites, climbing to the top of the table in the autumn, but their form has fallen away over the past two months.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are now 10 points behind League leaders, Manchester City in third place and Johnson, a former England star, says it ‘wouldn’t be a surprise’ if the German boss was sacked by Chelsea before the start of next season.

“I’d like to think Tuchel will still be at the club next season, but it’s the hottest seat in world football,’ Johnson told BettingOdds.com via Metro.

“I don’t think it’d surprise anybody if he wasn’t at Chelsea but I think it would be absolute madness for them to sack him.

“I think what he’s done in such a short period of time, and I think they are improving, if they keep him another season I think they’d be doing the right thing.

“I can’t imagine someone will walk in and pick up from where he’s left off and improve them immediately. I think it would be a mistake if he was to come under pressure,”

He said.

Both Werner and Pulisic have performed below expectations at Stamford Bridge and Johnson feels one of those players could also be on their way out of Stamford Bridge.

“Christian Pulisic isn’t really happening at the moment. Timo Werner’s not really happening at the moment.

“So if you’ve got a player who can come in and push them all for places and maybe they could trade one the other way, I reckon Chelsea would be interested in Dembele,”

He added.

Chelsea progressed to the FIFA Club World Cup final on Wednesday night after beating Al Hilal and are now set to face Brazilian side, Palmeiras on Saturday at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium.
