The Best Amapiano Artists In Nigeria Right Now

Since amapiano became a thing in Nigeria, almost every artist has jumped on it.
The style is so easy and smooth that afro-pop artists enjoyed flowing on it. Between 2020 and now, the amount of amapiano songs we’ve got is more than what we’ll ever get in any other period of two years.

The South African sound infiltrated the Nigerian airwaves in 2020 and since then, Nigerian artists have made a job of fusing our afro sounds with the amapiano genre.

From all of the artists who tried out the style, here are some of the best to do it in Nigeria.

  1. Naira Marley
During the lockdown, Naira Marley did a lot of experiments and he finally made a hit with “Koleyewon.” The street track was purely amapiano and it was amazing.

After that, Naira Marley could never let amapiano go anymore. He’s done several other hits with the same style and one thing is for sure, he’ll continue to do it. He’s quite good too.

  1. L.A.X
Wizkid’s former protege, L.A.X, has since moved on from his Starboy days and is now making a way for himself in this industry.

Some of L.A.X’s best songs so far (“Go Low,” “Faster”) have been amapiano jams. He’s definitely got it.

  1. Asake
While I’m sure they can find some fancy name like neofuji for the genre the YBNL star is doing, there’s no denying it’s got heavy amapiano influence.

Four songs now and counting, Asake has been toying with the sound and everyone has been turning up to it.

  1. Mohbad
Mohbad’s biggest hit ever is incidentally one of the best amapiano songs we got last year.

“Feel Good” was a hit on the streets and a big crossover to the mainstream for Mohbad, who a year before had made his debut with an EP. He’s since followed with “Backside.”

  1. Burna Boy
Burna Boy is the most versatile in our industry and the most flexible when it comes to genre switching. He’s done the amapiano quite well too.

As a matter of fact, he was one of the first artists from Nigeria to explore the genre. He was doing way back in 2019 with Kabza De Small and WizKid on a song called “Sponono.” He’s since done “Yaba Buluku” and had a stellar performance on “Sungba.”

  1. Mayorkun
Mayorkun has been toying with the amapiano sound since 2020 when he first did the “Of Lagos” hit that became a viral bop during.

His last album, “Back In Office” was mostly amapiano songs sprinkled with a little afro. Don’t forget. Whatever Mayorkun does, he does well.

  1. Davido
Davido is that guy that does a lot of things well. He has excelled in the music industry and has put in ten years of his life.

But Davido is a student of the game. He plays the game like a pro, too. And when we speak of amapiano, that’s just one of the many genres David has mastered.

First, he had a lot of amapiano jams on his “A Better Time” LP, and then went on to do mad features like “Ke Star,” “Champion Sound,” and “High.” Amapiano is definitely his thing!

  1. Zinoleesky
It’s only fair that Zinoleesky, the only man to ever say “amapiano” on the intro of a hit song, is number one on the list.

From “Ma Pariwo” to “Kilofeshe” to “Rocking” to “Blessings,” almost all of his hits are amapiano. Zinoleesky is the king of amapiano in Nigeria.

What Do You Think Of This List? Fair Or Not?
