Summer Transfer Window: Big Names On The Move

It’s that time of year once again, with the summer transfer now open all around the world, signalling an onslaught of trading to rival even the best trading forex bookers.
And as ever the rumour mill is in full flow, fuelling the sporting headlines, with new players linked with new clubs on a seemingly daily basis.

Manchester City has grabbed the early spotlight through the capture of Erling Braut Haaland – just about the most coveted forward in the global game, and one of only a few players who may improve an already excellent side.

It hasn’t all been about City though. Liverpool has also strengthened their forward line with the addition of the excellent Darwin Núñez from Benfica; whilst the exceptional midfield talent that is Aurélien Tchouaméni will get a well-deserved chance to shine on the big stage at Real Madrid.

Plenty of action in the early exchanges then, but the majority of business remains to be done, with the following star performers amongst those expected to be lining up for a new side when the 2022/23 season kicks off.

Sadio Mané to Bayern Munich

It’s a time of change at Liverpool, with Darwin Núñez joining recent addition Luis Diaz in the Anfield dressing room. With Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané all still on the books, that creates something of an overload of talent in the forward positions.

However, the addition of Núñez may be at least partially inspired by the imminent departure of Mané.

At 30 years of age, and with just one year remaining on his Liverpool contract, it seems the Senegal international is seeking a new challenge. And the club overwhelmingly expected to provide that challenge? German giants, Bayern Munich.

With a three-year contract already alleged to have been agreed with the player, all that remains is for the two clubs to agree on a price – Bayern is said to be returning with a bid in the region of £34.6m which may seal the deal.

Paulo Dybala to Inter Milan

This one is also close to being confirmed at the time of writing. Having announced he would be leaving Juventus upon the conclusion of his contract this Summer, Argentinian playmaker Dybala certainly wasn’t short of potential suitors; Manchester United and the North London duo of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly amongst those keen on adding the 28-year-old to their ranks.

However, in Dybala’s case, it seems that “mother knows best”, with the stars mother Alicia advising her son to remain in Italy. A lack of Champion’s League football at Arsenal and Manchester United may also have been contributing factors, whilst doubts surrounded the willingness of Spurs to meet the players wage demands.

Whatever the reasons, Dybala is now strongly expected to be lining up for “I Nerazzuri” next season.

Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona

The goalscoring charts may be looking a little different in the Bundesliga next season. With former Dortmund hitman Erling Braut-Haaland having already departed for the Etihad, it seems that the league’s signature striker, Robert Lewandowski, may also be seeking pastures new.

Following an incredibly successful time in Germany, including ten Bundesliga titles and a Champions League win – not forgetting a phenomenal record of 238 Bundesliga goals in just 253 appearances for Bayern Munich – Lewandowski looks set to fulfil a long-held ambition and take to the field in the colours of Barcelona.

Much like the Mané to Bayern deal, an agreement between the player and the club is already reportedly in place, although the difficult financial situation at Barcelona may yet throw a spanner in the works; the Spanish side needing to offload players in order to secure the signature of the prolific Pole.
