There’s a snake in the grass of Zootopia.
It’s been nearly a decade since we last visited Zootopia, the anthropomorphic metropolis at the heart of 2016’s Disney hit. The original animated film follows Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) — a bunny cop and a fox con artist — as they uncover corruption in their diverse city.
Zootopia 2 picks up not long after the first, with Nick having become Judy’s partner at the Zootopia Police Department. As the pair learn how to work in harmony, they’re tasked with tracking down a pit viper. The snake’s arrival teases the question of why there haven’t been any snakes in Zootopia over the past century, leading to an even bigger mystery.
The sequel pushes the boundaries of its Oscar-winning predecessor, exploring new corners of its namesake city while expanding its cast. In addition to Goodwin and Bateman returning, the film also features new additions in Ke Huy Quan, Fortune Feimster, and more.
All told, Zootopia 2 highlights 178 different characters spanning 67 species. At the forefront of the new characters you’ll find a mayoral stallion, a podcasting beaver, and a family of well-to-do lynxes. Who’s voicing who? Below, see the actors behind Zootopia 2’s new critters.
Ke Huy Quan began his strange, winding career as a child actor in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and The Goonies (1985), then pivoted to stunt choreography and behind-the-scenes work for nearly two decades.
He reemerged onscreen in the early 2020s. One of his first roles back was the critical and commercial smash Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Since then, he’s taken on a number of high-profile roles, leading the action-comedy Love Hurts (2025) and appearing on the Disney+ series American Born Chinese and Loki, both released in 2023. He also lent his voice to Kung-Fu Panda 4 (2024).
In Zootopia 2, he voices Gary De’Snake, the pit viper at the crux of the film’s story. “[Judy and Nick] discover a skin from Gary, and they need to go on this journey to find out why, for a hundred years, no reptile has ever stepped foot in Zootopia,” Quan explained to Entertainment Weekly. “And there is a mystery that they need to uncover. And that’s where Gary comes in; he shows up and freaks everybody out because he’s a venomous pit viper. Everybody’s afraid of him.”
But one should never judge a book by its over. “He’s actually very fun and friendly, in fact, kind of goofy, and he has a big heart,” Quan elaborated. “He’s your eternal optimist. And he shows up because he wants to tell everybody, and try to solve a case so that his family can come back to Zootopia.”
Fortune Feimster initially found fame in 2010 as a contestant on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and has since been a comedy stalwart. Her last stand-up special, Fortune Feimster: Good Fortune, aired on Netflix in 2022.
Over the past decade, she’s embraced more and more acting roles, helping lead the later seasons of The Mindy Project (2015–2017) and Netflix’s action-comedy FUBAR (2023–2025). A prolific voice performer, you can hear her on series Summer Camp Island (2018–2023), Bless the Harts (2019–2021), and Velma (2023–2024).
She plays Nibbles Maplestick, a podcasting, buck-toothed beaver with a passion for conspiracies — specifically ones about her home in the wetlands of Marsh Market.
Feimster, who was born in North Carolina, spoke about developing Nibbles’ specific voice during the film’s promo tour. “I knew that Nibbles was over the top and comes from this Marsh Market bayou situation so I just wanted to be louder, a little bit more brash, and a little bit more Southern,” she said. “So you just add a little something extra to what’s already here.”
He’s best known for his Oscar-nominated turn in George Clooney’s Good Night and Good Luck (2005). His long list of credits also includes work with acclaimed directors like John Sayles (Matewan, Eight Men Out), Penny Marshall (A League of Their Own), Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential), Wong Kar-wai (My Blueberry Nights), and Joachim Trier (Louder Than Bombs), among many others.
In recent years, he costarred in Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland (2020) and Guillermo Del Toro Nightmare Alley (2021), as well as the 2022 adaptation of Delia Owens’ Where the Crawdads Sing.
In Zootopia 2, Strathairn lends his commanding voice to Milton Lynxley, a savvy lynx and the patriarch of one of Zootopia’s most prestigious families. His character lords over Lynxley Manor, one of the film’s newest (and most luxurious) locations.
As a child, Macaulay Culkin was among the most famous faces on the planet. After his breakout role in John Hughes’ Uncle Buck (1989), the puckish young actor raised hell as Kevin McAllister in Home Alone (1990) and its 1992 sequel.
The early ’90s saw the pre-teen host SNL, get nominated for a Golden Globe, and appear in the music video for Michael Jackson’s “Black or White.” In a move we can’t help but respect, he capitalized on his ubiquity by playing a sociopathic, dog-killing moppet in The Good Son (1993).
Culkin retreated from the spotlight in the back half of the decade, popping up sporadically over the next few decades with roles in intriguing, off-beat fare like Party Monster (2003) and Saved! (2004). He penned a memoir, Junior, in 2006, and toured with a band that covered Velvet Underground songs (but made them about pizza).
He’s become more active onscreen in recent years, with roles on American Horror Story: Double Feature (2021), The Righteous Gemstones (2022), and the upcoming second season of Amazon Prime’s Fallout.
Here, he plays Cattrick Lynxley, the enterprising eldest son of Milton.
Brenda Song cut her teeth as a child actress on shows like Nickelodeon’s 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd (2000–2002) and the Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody (2005–2008).
The actress transitioned from kid’s fare to more mature work with roles on Scandal (2012–2013), Station 19 (2018–2020), and Dollface (2019–2022). You may also know her from films like The Social Network (2010), Love Accidentally (2022), and The Last Showgirl (2024).
Currently, she stars with Kate Hudson on Netflix’s sports comedy Running Time, which was recently picked up for a second season.
Song plays Kitty Lynxley, Milton’s daughter and Cattrick’s sister. At the Zootopia 2 premiere, chatted about sharing a recording booth her Culkin, her real-life partner. “This was the first time that, not only did we actually get to work together, but Jared [Bush], the director of the film, really just put us in a booth together, which is kinda dangerous, and let us improv, which was so much fun.”
After breaking out with his Emmy-winning digital shorts on Saturday Night Live (2005–2012), Andy Samberg collaborated with his Lonely Island cohorts on the cult classic films Hot Rod (2007) and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016).
He also won a Golden Globe for his leading turn on the police sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013–2021), on which he was also a producer.
As an executive producer, Samberg is responsible for two of the strangest and most innovative TV comedies to emerge in the last decade: Hulu’s PEN15 (2019–2021) and Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson (2019–2023).
Here, Samberg voices Pawbert Lynxley, described as the “easy-going runt of the powerful Lynxley family.”
After a series of TV guest spots throughout the ’90s, Patrick Warburton struck gold as the blank-faced, high-fiving David Puddy on Seinfeld (1995–1998).
His sonorous voice naturally lent itself to animation, so the actor has spent much of the last two decades voicing characters on Family Guy (1999–present), The Venture Bros. (2003–2018), and A Series of Unfortunate Events (2017–2019). He’s also lent his voice to animated films like Bee Movie (2007) and The Emperor’s New Groove (2000).
Warburton’s Mayor Winddancer is a horse, yes, but also a former TV action hero.
“There’s a responsibility within it,” the actor said of the movie in a chat with Metro Philadelphia. “You don’t want to go ‘Oh God, this is a message movie.’ But, the message helps you find the heart and soul. We want it to be entertainment from beginning to end, but at the same time, there’s substance to it, and it actually enhances the film. As opposed to it just being a job, it helps inspire the film and the story.”
Quinta Brunson is the Emmy-winning star and creator of ABC’s Abbott Elementary (2021–present), though you may have also seen her in episodes of Single Parents (2018–2020) and Miracle Workers (2021–2023).
She voices Dr. Fuzzby, a teensy, bespectacled quokka who serves as a “therapy animal” for Judy and Nick, as seen in the movie’s first trailer.
“She is one of those people who’s just trying to get to the root of the problem as best as she can,” Brunson said during a red carpet interview with Good Morning America. “I think she’s really funny really cute, really sweet, really small — like me. I think she’s just downright adorable.”
The legendary Danny Trejo spent most of his youth in and out of prison, but found his way into Hollywood via another ex-convict in screenwriter and Reservoir Dogs actor Eddie Bunker, whom Trejo had met in San Quentin.
His lived-in grit and natural charisma caught the eye of acclaimed filmmakers like Michael Mann, Quentin Tarantino, Rob Zombie, and Robert Rodriguez, who offered him bigger and bigger roles in films like Desperado (1995), Heat (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), and The Devil’s Rejects (2005).

Trejo plays Jesús in Zootopia 2, a character named as such because, in the actor’s words, “he’s a lizard who can run on water.”
