Saudi Arabia players who delivered the first upset at the ongoing 2022 World Cup, will be getting a Rolls Royce each for the heroic win.

Saudi Arabia, ranked 51st in the world by FIFA and thus the World Cup’s lowest-ranked team, beat world No.3 Argentina in their Group C opener, ending the South American team’s 36-game unbeaten run. Goals from Saleh Al Shehri and Salem Al Dawsari delivered the big win after Lionel Messi converted a penalty kick.

Hours after Saudi King Salman declared Wednesday a public holiday to mark the national team’s stunning victory, Saudi Arabian Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud announced that each of the players will be rewarded with a Rolls Royce Phantom starting at £363,600.

It is not the first time that a Rolls Royce has been awarded to a Saudi Arabian player. Saeed Al-Owairan received one of the luxury cars after scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Belgium in the 1994 tournament.

That figure would equate to £9.4million for Bin Salman, who reportedly has a net worth of $8billion.

Next up for Saudi Arabia is Poland on Saturday, November 26, where a win would see them take a huge step towards reaching the knockout rounds of the competition.
