Premier League referee appointments – gameweek 3

Anthony Taylor is set to take charge of West Ham vs Brighton in gameweek three of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Taylor was roundly criticised by Chelsea fans, players and even the manager Thomas Tuchel following the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Tottenham. Chelsea felt aggrieved that both of Spurs’ goals stood – the first for offside and the second for Cristian Romero pulled Marc Cucurella’s hair shortly before Harry Kane headed home in the 96th minute.

When asked about Chelsea’s long-term grievances with Taylor after the game, Tuchel replied: “I don’t think that just some of the fans think that. I can assure you that the whole dressing room, every single person thinks that.

“I cannot understand how the first goal is not offside. And I cannot understand since when players can pull other people’s hair and stay on the pitch and attack in the last corner.”

Chelsea fans, and Taylor himself will likely breathe a sigh relief this weekend as the referee will not be taking charge of their game vs. Leeds United at Elland Road.

Here’s all of the referee appointments ahead of the weekend’s games.
