Premier League Great Defoe Gets New Coaching Job

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Jermain Defoe, will take up his first full-time coaching job in Spurs’ academy next month, Mirror UK reports.
Defoe will join Manchester City legend, Yaya Toure, at Tottenham’s academy after the former Ivory Coast midfielder was handed a full-time coaching position.

Defoe’s coaching journey started in June 2021 when he was made a player-coach at Rangers.

The 39-year-old became their joint-caretaker boss following manager Steven Gerrard’s exit five months later before joining Sunderland as a player in January.

The former England international hung up his boots in March this year.

“I am really looking forward to it,” Defoe told Rangers’ website when his coaching career started.

“It is something we spoke about over the summer, myself, the manager, the staff… and when the opportunity came to me, it was an easy decision.”
