Arsenal hero, Merson has named Aaron Ramsdale as the real cause of Arsenal 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday.
He noted that it was the player’s ‘lazy’ error that allowed the Reds to take control of the clash.
The Gunners conceded twice in the space of eight minutes in the second half, despite being in control for much of the first-half at the Emirates.
Liverpool are now just one point behind league leaders, Manchester City and this leaves Arsenal just a point ahead of fourth place Manchester United.
Diogo Jota opened the scoring for Jurgen Klopp’s side with his near post effort squirming past goalkeeper, Ramsdale who got a hand to his effort but was unable to keep it out.
Arsenal legend, Merson was not impressed with the goalkeeper’s positioning and believes he failed to anticipate the shot.
“It is poor defending all round and its poor goalkeeping,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“The goalkeeper gets lazy, he thinks it is going to be a cross. You should never ever get beaten at your near post.”
