Olamide Does Not Deserve Any Nominations On Headies Rap Category (See Why)

The organizers of the prestigious award on Tuesday released the list of nominees for the 2022 Headies award and Olamide got nominated for the following categories:
– Best Rap Single
– Headies Viewer’s Choice
– Best Rap Album
– Album of the Year
– Best Male Artiste
However, some Nigerians feel he doesn’t deserve a nomination for any rap categories. Read below:
Uche wrote,“This is a huge disrespect to rap game, Olamide and phyno are no longer rappers, they are doing afro beat. We should be talking about M. I, AQ, show dem camp, Ladipoe, Vector and and a few others who are keeping it real… My opinion though”
Kingsley said, “I think anyone with a good listening ears and with his head working will understand CARPE DIEM is a very good rap project. Do we have to start mentioning the tracks on the project and all but it’s funny most of you always want to find one or two means to drag OLAMIDE, belittle him and all, also the most interesting part of it all is that, he’s bigger than your favorite”.
Emmanuel added, “Olamide is not more of a rapper his previous projects speaks louder . He is more of an afrobeat singer which is the commercialized area of the music industry . Let’s be corrected”.
Ola wrote, “What are u guys even saying… It seems some of you didn’t heard that album.. Cape diem is entirely a rap album, that’s the album that is been nominated…Loading is also a rap song, so what are we actually saying,… The song and album mentioned, are they not qualified for nomination or what?…..we can’t just keep giving reasons that Olamide is not a rapper, when he drops an entire rap album?, Although he sings Afro atimes but was any of his Afro songs nominated as rap?”
PriDe Tolo, “He is not a rapper he once was a rapper ,Nigerians confuses rap with afrobeat …. y’all disrespect real rappers, tthat’s crazy”.
Kelvin Khalih, “You people are disrespectful to hip hop!! OLAMIDE IS NOT A RAPPER !! We’re telling you this for the last time”.
