Morocco hold 2018 World Cup finalist Croatia to a goalless draw

North African side, Morocco on Wednesday, November 23, held 2018 finalist Croatia to a 0-0 draw in the first match at the 2022 World Cup, ongoing in Qatar.

Morocco did so well in stifling Croatia captain, Luka Modric, who won the best player award at the last World Cup when he led his country to the final before losing to France.

The Moroccans didn’t just defend, they also troubled Croatia’s defense in the match in which they lost Bayern Munich star, Noussair Mazraoui, who got injured after his diving header was saved by Croatian goalkeeper, Dominik Livakovic.

The match result is the third goalless draw in nine games played at the World Cup so far.

Morocco has never gone beyond the group stage since their world cup debut in 1986, but they will rate their chances of advancing with games to come against an ageing Belgium team and Group F outsiders, Canada.
