Memphis Depay agrees contract with Juventus

Memphis Depay has agreed terms on a contract at Serie A giants Juventus ahead of a summer move, 90min understands.

The Netherlands international signed for Barcelona ahead of the 2021/22 La Liga season but largely fell out of favour at the club when Xavi Hernandez took over in November 2021. Despite this, Memphis managed a respectable 13 goals in all competitions.

Following Barca’s extremely active transfer window – in which the club signed five new players, including two new forwards – the player is keen to leave Camp Nou in search of gametime.

Scott SaundersGraeme Bailey & Toby Cudworth bring you Talking Transfers, discussing Erik ten Hag wanting to sign five players before the transfer window closes, and Man Utd’s attitude to selling Cristiano Ronaldo. Available on all audio platforms and the 90min YouTube channel.

90min understands that Memphis is set to get his wish, having agreed to contract terms at Juventus. The move will be finalised when La Blaugrana agree to a mutually terminate his current contract, allowing the player to move to Juve as a free agent.

Juve have been actively searching for another forward option throughout the summer window and had been linked with bringing Alvaro Morata back to Turin following the end of his two-year loan.

Memphis will undoubtedly add more tactical flexibility for Max Allegri’s team than Morata could, having played out wide and as a striker in recent seasons at both Lyon and Barcelona.
