Man United Forward Jesse Lingard To Remain At The Club After Failed Transfer Move

England forward Jesse Lingard will stay at Manchester United for the rest of the season.
Interim United boss Ralf Rangnick told Lingard, 29, he could leave if an acceptable offer was received.

However, it became clear United were not willing to substantively alter their stance on deadline day.

They did not want to let Lingard join a top-four rival in West Ham and demanded a hefty clause in any deal with Newcastle should they avoid relegation.

England international Lingard spent a productive spell on loan at West Ham in the second half of the 2020-21 season, scoring nine goals in 16 appearances.

But he has started just two games in all competitions for the Red Devils since returning to Old Trafford.

Team-mate Dean Henderson attracted deadline-day interest from Watford, who were keen to sign the goalkeeper on loan until the end of the season.
