Kelly Dodd, Rick Leventhal gives update on relationship with estranged daughter

Kelly Dodd and Rick Leventhal are giving fans an update on their strained relationship with the reporter’s daughter Veronica Leventhal.

Page Six has obtained an exclusive sneak peek look at Rick’s upcoming interview with “Up and Adam!” host Adam Newell, in which he claims they’ve been “butting heads for years.”

Their relationship first made headlines in May when Kelly called her step-daughter “evil” after Veronica didn’t invite her to her wedding.

“There were things that she was doing and it didn’t start with Kelly, it started before Kelly,” Rick, 62, alleged in the interview.

Dodd, 46, stood up for her hubby, claiming that his friends have also seen “the way [Veronica] has treated him” in the past.

“I don’t want to air a bunch of family laundry,” Rick emphasized. “But just so you know, this didn’t start with Kelly.”

Rick went on to share that after he started dating Dodd in 2019, the two got on the “same page” about how Veronica “tried to manipulate” the situation.

“There were a lot of things, and all I ask for is an apology,” the former Fox News reporter said.

“It was like, ’No, you can’t act like that,’” he explained. “So, again, there were a lot of things, and all I ask for is an apology. That’s all I ask for.”

The full interview drops Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET on the “Up and Adam!” YouTube channel.

Rick previously alleged that his relationship with his daughter deteriorated prior to his relationship with Dodd, whom he wed in October 2020.

“My issues with my eldest daughter go back years. This isn’t about Kelly,” he wrote in an Instagram comment amid Veronica’s wedding drama.

Rick emphasized that he’s had a strained relationship with Veronica even before he met Dodd.

“If & when my daughter is ready to apologize and talk to me, we will work on repairing our relationship,” he continued. “In the meantime, she can live the rest of her life knowing she excluded me (& my wife) from her wedding. This is on my daughter, not Kelly.”

In a separate statement to Page Six, Rick said he’s “sure” most people “can identify with having problems” within their own family.

“My issues with my oldest daughter have been going on for many years. It’s unfortunate it’s come to this. I’m not going to detail all that’s transpired, but I will say the lines of communication were always open,” the statement read.

“She chose not to call and we believe didn’t invite me and Kelly to her wedding to hurt us. She’s a grown woman and will have to live with her decision. We wish her the best.”
