Ismael Tajouri-Shradi reveals timeline for New England Revolution debut

New England Revolution summer arrival Ismael Tajouri-Shradi has set a timeline for recovery from a leg injury as he works toward his club debut.

The Revs paid $400k in General Allocation Money (GAM) last week to bring Tajouri-Shradi to Gillette Stadium from LAFC, where the winger scored two goals this season despite making just six substitute appearances.

Yael Averbuch West hosted none other than Christian Fuchs for the latest episode ofFootball Americana. The Charlotte FC captain provided insight into the creation of Major League Soccer’s newest expansion team, and bringing European culture into the American side.

Tajouri-Shradi is currently sidelined with a leg injury and unable to make his Revs debut but, speaking at his first press conference since joining the club on Thursday, he revealed his aim to be back in action within the next fortnight.

“I’ve been struggling a little bit with injuries so far but I’m working hard every day to get back as soon as possible in with the team and to be back out there to help the team,” the Libya international said.

“That’s my goal for these next few weeks and months. I will hopefully be back in 10 days to two weeks, something like that, around this time. But the medical staff on that and I will try my best to, as soon as possible, be out there and play some games, get some minutes, and play with the team. I can’t wait for that.”

Revs head coach Bruce Arena is confident that, once healthy, Tajouri-Shradi has all the attributes to help his side climb the Eastern Conference standings.

“Well [Tajouri-Shradi] is a good attacking player. He can take people on, he can finish. He scored a number of goals in his MLS career,” said Arena. “We’re hopeful that’s something he can contribute to us once he gets healthy.”

New England currently sit 10th in the Eastern Conference, level on points with Chicago Fire in the seventh and final MLS Cup Playoffs spot ahead of this weekend’s home clash with DC United.
