Canadian-Nigerian singer, Nonso Amadi has revealed how celebrity couple, Banky W and Adesua Etomi managed to successfully convince his parents to support his music career.

Nonso Amadi revealed that the EME boss, Banky W born Olubankole Wellington and his wife, Adesuwa Etomi-Wellington convinced his parents after they kicked against his pursuit of music.

He disclosed this via his Twitter handle. The ‘Tonight’ crooner said he now has the blessings of his parents on his career choice, adding that his mum is involved in the creation of his forthcoming Extended Play (EP).

He thanked the Wellingtons for their kind gesture.

Amadi disclosed:

“Just want to say thank you to @BankyW and his lovely wife @AdesuaEtomiW for coming to speak to my parents in 2018 around letting me do music.

“Went a long way in gaining their support, & now I’m about to drop an album with my Mum involved in its creation. Love you both truly.”

Still on parental support, Afrobeats superstar, Davido discussed the impact of his billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke, on his musical career at the Forbes Under 30 summit in Botswana.

Davido revealed that he and his father frequently disagree over his spending patterns.

The Unavailable crooner stated that his dad’s advice on savings and investments seems distinct from his own and prefers to see him cut back on materialistic purchases.

Even though show business is different from other types of business, Davido acknowledges that it is still a business.

However, his dad dislikes seeing him rampage on materialistic items. Davido said:

“It’s still business. Sometimes we get into a lot of arguments. You know, showbiz is different from a normal person’s life that is just doing business.

“Like for example, I might be in Italy and maybe he just sees a caption ‘Oh Davido buys this $300,000 watch’ He will be like ‘Why are you wasting money like that’? I will be like, Dad you won’t understand. We are using it to inspire people. But all in all, it is still business.

“He still calls me to make sure that I save here, invest there. For example, I wanted to rent a penthouse. He advised me, ‘You are wasting money by spending on that (rent). Buy it and use it when you are around. Little advice here and there.

“It took a while for him to my (sic) music. But now he has fully accepted it.”
