The start of each new Premier League season always throws up some surprises, with this campaign no different. Five of the top six highest scorers so far this season are priced under £8.5m and they are quickly gathering momentum.

So which of these surprise packages are worth investing in for our fantasy teams ahead of Gameweek 4? Here are three players to consider in Fantasy Premier League this week.

Rodrigo currently sits as the best performing player in the game to date, with four goals and one assist from his opening three fixtures. His returns are impressive and he is fortunate to have been reclassified as a midfielder for this season, but being played out of position as a forward. The injury issues for Patrick Bamford have benefited him.

The underlying numbers for Rodrigo are solid, which suggests that he can maintain his current form. He’s currently top among all midfielders for shots with 13, and shots in the box with 12. He has scored four goals from three big chances and the short-term fixture schedule looks appealing, with no big six opponents until Gameweek 8.

Brentford currently sit in the top half of the Premier League table, having scored eight goals across their opening three fixtures. Toney has been heavily involved in this goaLscoring success, with two goals and two assists. The early signs are that he can improve on the 12 goals scored last campaign.

Toney is the talisman of the team and is also on penalties. Brentford have a kind run of fixtures until the World Cup break coming after Gameweek 16: he faces just three big six opponents in this time. Up next it’s Everton who are without a win in the Premier League this season.

Groß is still a differential in FPL, sitting in less than 10% of teams. He’s delivered an attacking return in two of the opening three gameweeks, with two goals and one assist. Brighton have started the season in impressive fashion, taking seven points from a possible nine, sitting fifth in the Premier League table.

Groß is involved in set pieces for Brighton, but isn’t on penalties: Mac Allister converted from the spot against West Ham last time around. That is a blow for his owners, but he does take some corners and indirect free-kicks. He created two chances against West Ham, notching up an assist.
