The organizers of Nigeria’s foremost music award, Headies released the full list of nominees for this year’s edition coming up in September.
One of the awards fans always look out for is the song of the year as it represents the song that dominated in the year of review.
Check out the nominated songs below:
It’s not surprising that the likes of Wizkid and Fireboy both got nominated for their songs Essence and Peru respectively. These are songs that have broken boundaries home and abroad.
The others (Patoranking, Flavour, Loljay, Adekunle Gold) nominated all have songs that reigned during the year of review.
But the most surprising song that missed out on Headies Song Of The Year was Feeling by Ladipoe which features Buju BNXN. The song falls under the year of review and we can categorically say some songs in this category don’t have half of the airplay, and streams this song has.

No disrespect to the artistes and the songs being nominated in this category but with the massive impact Feeling had during the year of review, it surely deserves a place in this category. The Headies organizers shows once again why a lot of fans and artistes don’t rate the award.
