FC Cincinnati have acquired goalkeeper Evan Louro from USL Championship side Tampa Bay Rowdies, signing him through the end of the 2022 Major League Soccer season with options for 2023 and 2024.
“I’d like to welcome Evan to FC Cincinnati,” general manager Chris Albright said in a release. “He’s a talented goalkeeper and an excellent teammate, and we’re excited to add him to the group.”
The goalkeeper spent the past two seasons with the Rowdies, where he led the team to back-to-back USL Championship finals and won the league’s Golden Glove award in 2021. Prior to his time in USL, he managed a homegrown deal with the New York Red Bulls but never secured a first-team appearance.
He now joins FC Cincinnati to give head coach Chris Albright another option at goal, behind Roman Celentano and Alec Kann. The team’s other goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer is out for the year after undergoing pectoral surgery in late July, while homegrown Beckham Sunderland remains in concussion protocol.

I’m excited to get going and work with Coach [Paul] Rogers and the incredible group of goalkeepers and to get back to where I was before my injury. To the fans, I can promise that I will be the hardest worker in the room, and the rest will take care of itself.”
FC Cincinnati currently sit in ninth on the Eastern Conference table with 34 points in 26 games as they fight for a MLS playoff slot. The team returns to action on Saturday when hosting the Columbus Crew at TQL Stadium.
