D’Banj, a popular Nigerian artist, caused controversy after a video of him prostrating before Pastor Jerry Eze on a surprise visit to celebrate the pastor’s 42nd birthday surfaces online.
The gesture, meant as a symbol of respect, has prompted intense debate on social media, with both supporters and detractors commenting.
During his visit, the Koko Master was observed kneeling, holding Pastor Eze’s hands, and praying for blessing.
While some saw the gesture as a sweet demonstration of humility, others chastised the musician, claiming that it was unnecessary for a prominent person of his calibre.
The criticism has been fast, with countless comments on social media criticising D’Banj’s behaviour and expressing displeasure.
Despite the criticism, other fans have backed the musician, applauding him for honouring religious leaders and showing dedication.
