Buhari confers National Honour on Ooni of Ife, Burna Boy, Teni, others

President Muhammadu Buhari has presented national honours to 447 Nigerians and friends of the country.

The 2022 National Honours Award Investiture took place at the International Conference Centre in Abuja on Tuesday.

The recipients were awarded with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).

In a viral video, The Arole Oduduwa & Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, was described while being decorated by President Buhari as a great advocate of Youth and Women Empowerment, a passionate Promoter of Peace and Unity in Africa and an exemplary selfless leader relentlessly doing his best preserving the cultural values of the African people.

Apart from the Ooni of Ife who got CFR (Commander of The Federal Republic), Buhari also honoured Nigerian Singers, Burna Boy and Teni with member of the order of the federal republic (MFR) awards.

In the clip, Samuel Ogulu, the father of Burna Boy, is seen receiving the award on his behalf from Buhari. Teni was also captured receiving hers.

The award comes against the backdrop of their heroics in the global music landscape.
