Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has been awarded a chieftaincy title by the traditional ruler of Mgbede community in Egbema Kingdom, Rivers State.
Nwabali received the title for his outstanding performance during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.
His incredible saves saw the Super Eagles to the final of the continental tournament, where the Nigerian team unfortunately, lost to the host nation 2-1.
Meanwhile, the South Africa based football star was conferred the title of ‘Ugo Egbema,’ meaning “The Pride of Egbema Kingdom,” by the chairman of the town’s Council of Chiefs, Nzeobi Amida.
According to reports by Punch, the chairman, Amida, praised Nwabali for bringing honour to Egbema Kingdom through his dedication and skill on the field, during the tournament.
