A 22-year-old man in Poland was arrested for posing as a mannequin to gain unauthorized access to a shopping mall after closing hours.
This daring act allowed him to execute a series of thefts and burglaries within the mall.
The unidentified man’s modus operandi was both unique and risky. Pretending to be a lifeless mannequin, he stood motionless with a purse in hand, presumably to avoid arousing suspicion from security cameras.
His ultimate goal was to patiently wait for the mall to close so that he could carry out his criminal activities undetected.
According to a statement from the Warsaw Police, once the man felt safe and the mall was closed, he embarked on his thieving spree.
“When he felt safe, he went ‘hunting’ and robbed the island of jewellery,” Warsaw Police said in a statement.
His first target was a jewelry store, which he successfully robbed. On a separate occasion, he managed to sneak into one of the mall’s bars, where he indulged in a meal.
To further evade capture, he later changed his clothes in a different store and returned to the bar for another meal when hunger struck.
The audacious thief did not limit his criminal activities to the shopping mall alone.
He was also linked to thefts and burglaries at another location, where he pilfered money from cash registers and attempted to steal additional items.
However, the bold thief’s run of audacious crimes came to an end when he was eventually spotted and apprehended by mall security. He was subsequently handed over to the local authorities.
The consequences of his actions are severe. The 22-year-old individual now faces charges of burglary and theft, which could result in a maximum prison sentence of up to 10 years if convicted.
