The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi rejects the Presidential Elections Petition Court’s verdict concerning the outcome of the February 25, 2023, election.
Obi made this announcement during a press conference held at his residence in Onitsha on Thursday.
While acknowledging that the PEPC had adhered to the legally mandated time frames, he expressed strong disagreement with the rationale and final decision of the judgment.
In his capacity as a presidential candidate and on behalf of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has announced his intention to immediately challenge this judgment through the appellate process.
He emphasized that the PEPC’s decision is not the ultimate authority in this matter and underscored his confidence in the Supreme Court, which now carries the responsibility for the case.
Obi called upon Nigerians to maintain their focus, unwavering commitment to peaceful processes, and strict adherence to the rule of law. He emphasized that the matter has not yet reached its logical conclusion, indicating that there are further legal steps to be taken.
“I express respect for the Court’s views and rulings but openly disagree with the judgment’s rationale and final conclusions,” he stated in part.
